Bob Powers put on a professor’s cap and taught a 3-hour course reviewing insurance agent/broker liability law on October 28th and 29th at the Massachusetts Association of Insurance Agents' annual convention. The class explored the "special circumstances" factors that increase the scope of an agent's duties, discussed options for responding to G.L. c. 93A and Division of Insurance complaints, reviewed the potential liability arising from the application process, the adequacy of a client's insurance coverage, agency involvement in the claims process, and liability concerns arising from the increasing use of electronic signatures.
